In Helldivers 2, the Vox Engine is a massive mobile weapons platform that outmatches the standard Factory Strider in both fear and firepower. Exclusive to Cyberstan and introduced in the Machinery of Oppression update, this behemoth spews vile propaganda from the Cyborg overlords and boasts some of the most destructive capabilities in the game. Taking it down is no easy feat, but it’s not invincible. Here’s how to effectively destroy Vox Engines in Helldivers 2.
The Vox Engine’s primary vulnerability lies in its six glowing orange heat sink vents, which can be targeted and destroyed with any weapon, similar to the vents on a Helldivers 2 Hulk. Three vents are located on the back of its upper torso/head, while the other three are on its tank tread lower half. The most efficient strategy is to eliminate all three vents on one section, ideally focusing on the lower half. The torso will constantly pivot to track your position, making it tough to hit those vents unless you have a teammate to distract it. Targeting the lower vents allows for a solo takedown.
Once you’ve destroyed all three vents, a small vent that releases smoke will open at the rear of the Vox Engine, situated between its torso and tank treads. You’ll need to lob a grenade into this vent to finish the job, but it requires precision, as the grenade must drop directly into the weak point, similar to dealing with a Fabricator. I’ve also managed to take down a Vox Engine by destroying all six main vents, but I recommend sticking to the three-vent-then-grenade method for efficiency. You can also take out the two gatling guns mounted on the lower half with any medium armor penetration weapon, though heavy armor penetration or anti-tank options are preferable. Weapons like the Railgun or Eruptor are excellent choices for quickly dispatching them, and they’re also effective against other Helldivers 2 Cyborgs.
If the chaos of the Helldivers 2 Cyberstan campaign makes the above method impractical, feel free to unleash your most powerful Stratagems and support weapons on a Vox Engine. An Orbital Laser can do the trick, but it takes time, so it might not be the best use of such a powerful Stratagem. Other destructive anti-tank options like Orbital Barrages, Eagle 500kg Bombs, the Recoilless Rifle, and even C4 can be effective, especially with teammates providing additional firepower. Just remember that targeting the vents and tossing a grenade is the most resource-efficient method and should be your go-to for quickly neutralizing this colossal threat. If things get too intense, don’t hesitate to retreat—just ensure you complete your objectives. While on Cyberstan, you’ll encounter various Automaton constructs, so be prepared to tackle Helldivers 2 Devastators and Helldivers 2 Gunships as well.
