In Resident Evil 4, the Cave Puzzle requires you to input a symbol code into the Shrines using a Stone Dias. This is part of the “Investigate the two locations” objective. The symbols you need are painted in yellow on the walls, but they can be easy to overlook.

After defeating Del Lago and crossing the lake, you’ll enter a cave adorned with wall paintings that guide you to two locations on the map:

Each location contains a stone head necessary to unlock the Resident Evil 4 Church key, but you’ll need to find and use code combinations on the stone dias at each site.

The Large Cave Shrine combination is the simpler of the two, as the three symbols are relatively easy to spot. The Small Cave Shrine is a bit trickier, with symbols that are only visible from certain angles, but it’s manageable. If you prefer to skip the search, you can use the combinations provided below. Here’s how it all works in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

For the Large Cave Shrine Stone Dias code, you can find the symbols in the large cave if you want to track them down yourself:

In this area, the symbols for the Large Cave Shrine Stone Dias are mostly intact and easy to see:

The first symbol is located just after the ladder as you enter the area.

The second symbol can be found on two pillars when you reach the dias and turn around.

The final symbol is on the lower level below the ladder to the left.

Now, for the Small Shrine Cave Stone Dias combination. Each of the three symbols can be found in this location, all around the wooden structure:

These symbols are a bit trickier, as some only fully reveal themselves from specific angles, spread across two surfaces. When you get it right, they look like this:

The first symbol is at the base of the ladder leading to the upper level of the stone building.

The second symbol can be found by climbing the ladder and looking out toward the water, combining a symbol on the wood and cave.

The final symbol is again on the upper level, combining a symbol on the building wall and the save surface.

Once you’ve gathered all the Shrine Cave Stone Dias code symbols and retrieved the stone head from each location, return to the cave mural that directed you. Place a head in each shrine, and you’ll receive the insignia needed to unlock the church.
