Complete the Combat Recon quest in Arc Raiders to explore the Buried City.
The Combat Reconquest in Arc Raiders’ latest Headwinds update takes you back to a well-known spot: the Buried City. Even if you’ve explored this area countless times, finding good cover can still be a challenge.
Like the With a View and Prime Specimen quests, you’ll need to grab an item to complete Combat Recon. This time, it’s a Spotter Relay, which is definitely easier than taking down the Bombardier itself. If you don’t have one yet, keep an eye out for the Bombardier’s recon drones at Marano Park, Plaza Rosa, or the Parking Garage.
Here’s a breakdown of the specific locations you need to hit for the Combat Recon quest. You can tackle these in any order, so go for the area closest to your spawn point.
The first location is likely the trickiest to find, as the clue—Main Street—doesn’t provide much guidance. To check this area out, head to the attic of the westernmost house in Plaza Rosa, located in the southern part of the Buried City. Once you’re in the attic, interact with the prompt by the roof window that overlooks the plaza to the east.
Watch your back here; a Bombardier might spawn where Main Street meets Plaza Rosa, and you’ll often find other players around. I ran into both during my visit.
Next, make your way to the roof of the Parking Garage (there’s a convenient zipline) and head to the southwestern side, where you’ll find the stairwell. Interact with the prompt at the top of the stairs near the broken railing.
Just like the Main Street spot, be wary of any Rocketeer or Bombardier lurking nearby, as the rooftop can be quite exposed.
Now, scoping out Marano Park is the simplest of the three objectives. Just hop into the bus closest to the metro entrance inside Marano Park, facing Piazza Roma to the west. You’ll find the prompt at the back door.
I suggest saving the Marano Park objective for last since it’s centrally located and near a metro station for a quick exit. Check out the bus, then make your getaway, especially if a Bombardier or Leaper is on the prowl.
As a reminder, you’ll also need to take down two Spotters and collect at least one Spotter Relay to deliver to Shani. This doesn’t all have to be done in one go, and you might already have a Spotter Relay ready to hand in.
Spotters are the recon drones sent out by Bombardiers. You don’t need to engage the Bombardier itself, but the Spotters will still alert it. You can find Bombardiers and their Spotters in three locations throughout the Buried City:
These locations align with the three spots you need to visit for the Combat Recon quest, so you might as well collect them while you’re at it. If you’re also gathering Spotter Relays for the Trophy Display project, they respawn shortly after you take them down, allowing you to farm Spotters as long as you leave the Bombardier alive.
