If you’re wondering how to change your appearance in Nioh 3, you’re not alone. Many players find themselves regretting their character design choices or realizing their creation looks nothing like intended after stepping into the game. It’s a common struggle—spending ages crafting a character only to have them look completely different in action.

Nioh 3 features a character code system that allows you to share your creations or snag impressive designs from others. All you need is the code. Here’s how to change your appearance and utilize those character codes.

To change your appearance in Nioh 3, you first need to defeat the Jakotsu-baba boss in the Hamamatsu Castle Crucible, which unlocks the Eternal Rift hub area. Once you have access, follow these steps:

Interact with the hub to see three options: change appearance, equipment appearance, or transform (the last option becomes available later). The first option lets you adjust your hair, body, and facial features, while the second allows for gear customization, letting you visually swap one piece of equipment for another.

You can also customize your ninja and samurai forms separately—just uncheck the ‘Same appearance for both styles’ option in the Change Appearance menu to design them individually.

If you come across a character online that you admire and the creator has shared their character code, you can recreate that character. When you enter the character creator at the start of the game (or use the mirror later), scroll down to ‘Options’ and select ‘Input Code’ to enter the character code. You can share your own creations by selecting ‘Create/Manage Codes’. If you’re on the hunt for codes, check out the Nioh subreddit, where players often share their designs.
