Disabling Simple Build Mode in Fortnite: A Quick Guide
Fortnite Simple Build is designed to streamline the building process, allowing players to construct structures quickly without the hassle of constantly switching between different building pieces. While this approach simplifies things, it lacks the flexibility of the traditional system and requires some practice to master, which may not appeal to everyone. Whether you stumbled upon it during the introductory splash screen or tried it out but found it didn’t suit your style, here’s how to disable Fortnite Simple Build.
This new building method, introduced at the start of Fortnite Chapter 7, aims to make construction easier by limiting inputs to just two. When Simple Build is activated and you enter building mode, your Primary input will place Stairs, Floors, or Roofs based on your direction—looking up or down will create Stairs, while looking straight ahead will lay down Floors. The Secondary input is dedicated to placing Walls, allowing you to quickly assemble structures without the need to manually switch between different components.
If you’ve decided that Simple Build isn’t for you and want to revert to the classic building method, head over to the Settings menu. Select the GAME tab at the top, then navigate to Building in the side menu. You’ll find an On/Off toggle for Simple Build at the top of that section. Disable it here, and you can return to the original building system, giving you greater control over your constructions.
