Essential Tips for Securing Early Water in StarRupture to Avoid Dehydration

StarRupture may initially remind you of the automation sim Satisfactory, but it also incorporates survival elements, meaning you’ll need to manage your water and hunger to avoid an unfortunate demise. Interestingly, the tutorial skips over the survival mechanics, so you might find yourself in a tight spot if you’re not careful.

Once you realize that hydration is a crucial aspect of survival, it becomes easier to stay on top of it. As you advance and enhance your equipment, you’ll unlock even better ways to keep hydrated.

In the early stages of StarRupture, the best method for obtaining water is to harvest and consume Hydrobulbs found near water sources. These tall, grass-like plants with blue sacks are easy to spot and respawn frequently. Essentially, the game takes the classic survival trope of foraging for berries to stay nourished and applies it to your hydration needs. After collecting a few Hydrobulbs, access your inventory, right-click the item, and select ‘use’ to consume them, which will restore 15 Hydration.

While there are several ponds scattered across the planet, your best starting point is right next to your first base on the plains near the lander.

After a short while, once you’ve built the Recipe Station, you can unlock a variety of new food and drink recipes. I suggest focusing on these two, as they are straightforward to research and provide a significant hydration boost:

– Aqua Fluid, which requires 30 Hydrobulbs and 20 Star Tears. You can find Star Tears in rocky areas like the hills to the east and west of your starting location.

– Aqua Gel, which needs 60 Hydrobulbs and 25 Grubblers. Look for Grubblers on the golden trees directly east of the lander, near the map beacon.
