Finding the Right Chemical Agents for Anders in Directive 8020

In episode 5 of Directive 8020, you’ll step into the shoes of medical officer Samantha Cooper, where one of your tasks involves helping Anders acquire some sedatives for her “experiment.” Sounds a bit sketchy, right? If you’ve leaned into Cooper’s more playful side during your playthrough, you’ll have the option to go along with her plan. On the flip side, if you’ve kept her demeanor strictly professional, you might just skip this puzzle altogether.

Depending on your choices as Cooper, you’ll need to hunt down three specific chemicals to concoct a sedative. The catch? You’re only given their chemical symbols, not their names. If your chemistry skills aren’t top-notch, this puzzle might feel trickier than it really is. Here’s how to tackle it.

Inside the chemical cabinet, each of the three required chemicals is associated with a number. The sequence you need to enter on the keypad is 168. The chemicals necessary for Diazepam Synthesis are:

To the left of the cabinet, there’s a poster displaying the chemical symbols you need. This can complicate things a bit, especially if you’re not well-versed in chemistry. Luckily, there are three posters scattered around the room that show different chemical symbols along with their names. One of these will correspond to a chemical you need for the puzzle, while the other two are just random, helping you narrow down your options.

If you have a notebook handy, jotting down the three chemicals can be a lifesaver here. Even a quick screenshot can help. With nine chemical symbols to sift through, it’s easy to get mixed up and accidentally input the wrong code.

Once you’ve entered the correct code and mixed the chemicals, it’s time to return to Anders. A cutscene will play, showing her taking the chemicals, and then you’ll both regroup in the wing to continue with the objective before reuniting with Williams. This wraps up the storyline and puzzle, allowing you to move forward with Anders’ intriguing plan.
