Guide to Acquiring the Acidic Raion Pouch in Subnautica 2

Finding an Acidic Raion Pouch is one of your initial objectives in Subnautica 2, as it’s essential for crafting the basic battery needed for your scanner. The scanner is arguably your most crucial tool, unlocking various blueprints, including the Wakemaker and Sonic Resonator.

Fortunately, Acidic Raion isn’t hard to find, and once you know the locations, you can return for more since it respawns over time. Just remember to craft a Survival Multitool to harvest it; it’s unlikely you’d forget this vital tool back at your base.

You can gather Acidic Raion Pouches from the purple brain-shaped plants known as Acid Raion, typically located in caves. Each plant yields multiple pouches, so usually, one or two plants will suffice. Additionally, you’ll find a Medical Gel Sack at the center of each plant.

Be careful not to take the Medical Gel Sack before harvesting the Acidic Raion Pouches, as it will release burning acid into the water if disturbed prematurely.

There are several Acidic Raion locations near your starting Lifepod:

Once you’ve equipped some early upgrades like the oxygen tank and flippers, allowing you to swim further from the Lifepod, you’ll encounter Acidic Raion in abundance. However, the nearby spots to your starting base are incredibly convenient in the early game.

As mentioned, the primary reason for collecting Acidic Raion Pouches is to craft batteries, which power nearly every useful tool, from the scanner and flashlight to the habitat builder and Wakemaker propulsion device. Additionally, it can be used to create Mild Acid, and the Medical Gel Sack is handy for crafting advanced first aid kits.
