Guide to Completing Forge It Anew in The Blood of Dawnwalker
In the quest “Forge It Anew” from Blood of Dawnwalker, your mission is to reforge St. Mihai’s Silver Sword, which you obtained during “A Monk and a Saint.” Given that Vrakhiri have a strong aversion to silver, this sword will serve as a powerful weapon against vampires. To complete the reforging, you’ll need to locate the missing sword shards and find a blacksmith. Here’s where to search.
You’ll need to gather three sword shards found in Kobold nests scattered throughout Vale Sangora before you can reforge the Sword of St. Mihai.
The first shard is in the northeast corner of the Maragir Wealds, just northeast of the Upper Maragir Wealds shrine, across the river. Look for a cave and a trail that initiates the “Forge It Anew: Do Not Disturb” quest. Follow the trail into the Kobold den, defeat the enemies, and claim the shard from the broken cross. There’s also a cave painting map that will provide quest markers for the other shard locations if you take a moment to examine it.
The second shard can be found in the northern part of the Rockfalls region, east of the mountains from the Westridge Outpost shrine, but it’s more accessible from the east by navigating through the forest. It’s also directly southwest of the Giant’s Pawns shrine.
At the Kobold nest marked with a white X above the entrance, you’ll encounter a corrupted Kobold named Munch-Munch, which triggers the “Forge It Anew: Hostile Takeover” quest. This boss can be quite challenging due to its poison attacks, but once you take it down, you can retrieve the sword shard from the nest. There’s another map here that will help you locate the remaining shards.
The final shard is located in south St. Tyna’s Grove, directly southeast of the Crossroads Inn where you meet Anca for the “Echoes of Silenced Bells” quest. From the Crossroads Inn shrine, head south and take the left path up into the hills to find the Kobold nest, which starts the “Forge It Anew: Executive Order” quest.
Inside the den, you’ll discover that the sword shard has been taken to one of Xanthe’s camps to the west in The Silts. Follow the quest marker, defeat the enemies, and retrieve the last shard from a small chest in the main tent.
With all the shards collected, it’s time to find a blacksmith to reforge them. I had already encountered the Uriashi blacksmith earlier in the quest, so I’m not certain if you need to track her down, but you should head to the Uriashi Hermitage shrine in northwest Briar Sloughs, navigating through the forest and up the hill.
Here, you’ll find a large standing stone in a circle and a lone hornless Uriashi who will agree to reforge the sword once you speak to her. The final step involves heading up the hill into an ancient ruin, defeating some enemies, and quenching St. Mihai’s Sword in a cursed-looking red orb of magic. Completing this will grant you the legendary Imbued Sword of St. Mihai, which features an impressive weapon art that changes depending on whether it’s day or night—I personally prefer the AoE version during the day.
