In Crimson Desert, the Mystical Key and Polar Opposites quests follow closely after one another. After winning an arm wrestling match at Hernand tavern and assisting some villagers with their chimney, you’ll need to take a mysterious key to unlock a room in Hernand Castle.
Next, you’ll utilize the Axiom Force ability to manipulate some dials and complete a circuit. Here’s how to wrap up both quests and continue your journey through Chapter 1.
Once you help the villagers with the chimney, the Mystical Key quest begins. First, examine the Engraved Key you just acquired. Open your inventory, select the key, and hold CTRL (LB on controller) to inspect it. Now, equip the Hernandian Attire from the previous quest and head to either gate of Hernand Castle.

Don’t forget to loot the chest in the room for a Faded Abyss Artifact (which allows you to respec) before entering the portal to the Abyss.
Once in the Abyss, you’ll need to “activate the Abyss Nexus” by stepping on the pad right in front of you—these serve as fast travel points, so you’ll be using them frequently. Follow the cobbled path to the building ahead, where a friendly white crow will grant you the Axiom Force ability.
Press and hold tab (or L3 on controller) to aim Axiom Force, then release to attach it to the discs on the floor. Use the controls shown in the bottom right to push and pull the discs into alignment, allowing the circuit of blue light to flow through. This will unlock the door, granting you access inside. After that, complete the Abyss Without Balance quest to finish Chapter 1.
