Locate the Rotary Encoder in the With a View quest of Arc Raiders

Completing the quest “With a View” in Arc Raiders requires you to gather random Exodus materials from Stella Montis once again. It seems that the previous Expedition and the Snap and Salvage quest weren’t enough; you’ll need to dive back into Stella Montis and hope to spawn close enough to snag the materials before other players beat you to them.

This time around, you’ll be on the hunt for a Rotary Encoder and an Ion Sputter, along with some extra steps to complete within Stella Montis. Here’s how to tackle “With a View” and secure both items.

The Rotary Encoder can be found in the Assembly, Medical, or the security office in the Lobby of Stella Montis. I found mine tucked away in a drawer on the upper floor of the Medical area. As with any Exodus material in Stella Montis, the trick is to spawn near these locations and rush in before the containers are emptied. It’s not the most convenient method, but it’s necessary as long as quests involve random Exodus materials. I recommend bringing a secure pocket to stash the item as soon as you find it, since you don’t have to finish the quest in one go.

Next, make your way to a Control Room in Assembly, which are the rooms with terminals and windows overlooking the Assembly Workshop area on the upper floor of Stella Montis. I opted for the west room. These rooms are easy to identify, as they each feature a yellow-marked lever that you can activate with the Rotary Encoder—go ahead and do that, then store it back in your secure pocket.

The following step is to “Interact with the nearby computer to identify the correct parts.” If you’re in the west room like I was, the computer terminal bank is right next to where you used the encoder, so just interact with it to complete the necessary steps in Stella Montis. Be sure to hold onto the Rotary Encoder until you finish the next part of the quest involving the Ion Sputter. After that, you can pass it to a friend so they can complete the quest as well.

Unfortunately, there’s still more to do. You’ll need to deliver a rare Exodus material to Shani, specifically an Ion Sputter. If you’ve been spending time in Stella Montis, you might already have one, but if not, you’ll need to check Medical, Assembly, and the security office in the Lobby. To speed things up, I suggest spawning in with nothing until you land near one of those locations, as they get looted quickly. The moment you find an Ion Sputter, stash it in your secure pocket. If you don’t spawn close, it’s best to respawn and try again. Once you have the Ion Sputter, you can complete the quest.
