Locating a Deforester in Arc Raiders: A Quick Guide

The new A Prime Specimen quest in Arc Raiders tasks players with locating a Deforester husk and using Arc Powercells to activate it for resource looting. However, be cautious—activating the husk triggers a fiery trap that can take you out if you’re not careful. If you’re slow to spawn or take too long, you might find the Deforester already looted, forcing you to either search for another one or exit the match and try again in the next expedition. Here’s a breakdown of how to find and activate a Deforester husk to complete the Prime Specimen quest.

To finish the A Prime Specimen quest, follow these steps:

The challenge lies in the fact that Arc Raiders doesn’t clearly explain what Deforesters are or how to activate these massive machines. While activating these husks has been a feature for some time, this is the first quest to incorporate it, introduced in the Arc Raiders Escalation update. Let’s dive into the details.

Currently, there are two known locations for Deforester husks on the Blue Gate map, which are marked on the map above. Deforesters are large, cylindrical wrecks that become visible when you zoom in on the map, and they should appear hollow as you approach.

What you need to look for is a sparking electrical panel inside the cylinder, which serves as the interaction point to start the activation process.

To activate the Deforester husks, you’ll need two Arc Powercells. You can either bring them with you into the expedition or find them on Arc robots during gameplay—both methods work. Once you reach the husk, interact with the sparking electrical panel to initiate the process.

WARNING: If you don’t see the option to interact, it means another player has already claimed it. Each Deforester can only be looted once per match, so if you’re not the first, you won’t be able to interact at all.

Once activated, the inside of the Deforester will intermittently shoot flames. You’ll need to dash past the fire when it stops to reach a second panel at the back of the cylinder, where you’ll insert the second Arc Powercell. This will trigger a new flame pattern that you’ll need to dodge before climbing onto the new platform on the upper half of the cylinder. Avoid the flames again, and you can interact with the final loot point of the Deforester, collecting all the Arc components inside. Successfully doing this will also extinguish the flames, allowing you to exit safely.
