Locating All Ingredients for The Forgotten Recipe in Gothic Remake
In Gothic Remake, once you step into the Old Camp, you’ll meet Guy, the resident nice guy, who will hook you up with a free hut. Inside your new digs, check the chest to find a scrap of paper that kicks off The Forgotten Recipe quest.
To get started, chat with Snaf, the town’s chef, who can be found by the cauldron near the castle gate. He’ll hand you a list of ingredients needed to whip up a secret stew. Below, I’ll guide you on where to find all six ingredients and how to cook the stew, so you won’t be wandering aimlessly like I did.
After your conversation with Snaf, you’ll need to gather two of each of the following ingredients:
For Scavenger breast, hunt down the peculiar chicken-like dinosaurs of the same name, which are scattered throughout the fields and forests to the east and west of the Old Camp, particularly near the north gate where you first entered. They drop Raw White Meat, which is what you need.
Solanaceae herbs can be found in and around caves. I suggest picking up the two Solanaceae located inside the cave where you encounter Nek during The Vanished Warder quest, just outside the south gate of the Old Camp. Alternatively, you can find two in the small molerat cave by the bridge at the north gate, and in the larger molerat cave to the west of town, near the guarded path to the orcs.
For onions, carrots, potatoes, and water, your best bet is to buy them from Dexter in the market area, which is covered with hanging cloth on the southern side of the Old Camp. You can grab two of each ingredient for a total of 24 ore, which is easy to come by—just sell any extra weapons, materials, or trophies if you need some quick cash.
Once you’ve collected everything, head back to Snaf. He’ll prepare a batch of the recipe and explain the cooking process. Fortunately, you can skip all the steps he outlines, which is a nice break from the norm in Gothic.
To cook the stew, you’ll need a cauldron. There’s an unoccupied one near Kharim at the entrance to the arena on the left side of the Old Camp, or you can use Snaf’s cauldron when he turns in for the night. Select the Brock’s Stew recipe, and it will use up the ingredients you gathered. After that, return to Snaf for a taste test of your creation, completing The Forgotten Recipe quest and earning yourself 100 XP.
