Master the Art of Stealthy Pickpocketing in Crimson Desert

Stuck on how to pickpocket in Crimson Desert? You’re not alone! The pickpocketing system here is quite unique compared to other games. You can’t just sneak up and rummage through someone’s pockets; there’s a specific method to the madness.

First off, you’ll need a mask to engage in any petty theft. You can snag one from Back Alley Shops, like the one in Hernand, or earn one by completing your first bounty mission to capture Jeffrey in Chapter 2. Sometimes, you might even loot a mask from enemies or bandits.

Once you’ve got your mask, the next step is simple: just bump into someone to initiate the pickpocketing. A prompt will pop up—either E on mouse and keyboard or X on controller—allowing you to quickly swipe an item. The loot is random, so you might end up with some junk, but targeting nobles can yield better rewards, including gold bars. Nobles can often be found around the bank in Hernand or at various manors, so give it a shot!

However, there’s a catch: you’ll be detected unless you have a special item (more on that below). While guards won’t arrest you outright, you’ll need to escape the red witness circle or wait for the crime timer to expire. You’ll also accumulate a fine and lose Contribution points, but it’s only the same five points you lose for regular theft.

To avoid detection while stealing, you can acquire the Great Thief’s Gloves by completing the intricate Secret of the Lost Seal faction quest for House Serkis. These gloves grant a special buff called Great Thief, which keeps you under the radar when you steal, though they come with a 30-minute cooldown. If you haven’t unlocked this quest yet, you’ll need to progress through other house questlines in Hernand, including those for House Roberts and House Alfonso.
