Mastering the Art of Taming the Legendary Blue Parrot in Crimson Desert

The Hyacinth Macaw is arguably the trickiest legendary bird to tame in Crimson Desert. While it may just look like a blue parrot, it proves to be more challenging than crafting Platinum for the Iron Eagle or taking down a Phoenix with an explosive arrow. So, what makes it so tough to tame? It all comes down to RNG.

This bird has an erratic flight pattern, making it hard to predict where it will show up. It also has a preference for a specific type of food that other local birds enjoy, leading to them swooping in and stealing your supplies. However, with a bit of patience, you can successfully tame this parrot. Here’s how to do it.

You can spot the Hyacinth Macaw near the Giant’s Yard Outpost in the eastern part of Pywel, just west of Red River and south of the Red Tree Forest, not far from where the legendary horse, Rocade, can be found. To tame this bird, you’ll need to follow a few steps:

Start by purchasing five Desert Melons from the Grocer in Tommaso, located near the stable, and another seven from the Grocer in Varnia. Alternatively, you can buy the first five, wait for 12 hours, and then return for the next five.

Once you have your melons and the outpost is secured, plant your Sotdae of Bond at the designated spot just east of the camp, on the ledge above the ravine overlooking the Red Tree Forest.

After setting up, it’s mostly a waiting game since the Hyacinth Macaw’s flight path is unpredictable. Move a short distance away and keep an eye on the feeder. The flock will be easy to identify, featuring one large blue macaw alongside several yellowish Sun Conures that may try to land on your feeder. If a Conure shows up, use Force Palm on the feeder to scare it off and protect your melons.

Initially, I thought the Hyacinth Macaw wouldn’t show up in the rain, but it surprisingly landed on my feeder during a rainy day, proving that its appearance is quite random. I had tried placing the feeder in various locations before finding success here. Once the macaw has eaten enough melons, approach it and select “Take in” to make it your pet.
