Navigating Love and Heartbreak in Moonlight Peaks: A Guide to Marriage and Divorce

In a farm sim, one of the ultimate goals (besides running a thriving wine business) is to tie the knot with your favorite townie. Moonlight Peaks gives you the freedom to explore romantic options by dating nearly everyone before settling down with that special someone.

Having gone through the marriage process a few times, I’ve compiled everything you need to know about proposing, planning a wedding, and even how to navigate divorce if you decide to pursue a second (or third) marriage. No judgment here if you marry early and later find yourself wanting to date Samael instead.

When you pop the question and get engaged, your partner will wear the “fiancée” label and start with 11 friendship hearts. Any other characters you were dating will feel the sting of your engagement, receiving a “hurt” label and dropping to just four broken hearts. They’ll express their sadness in dialogue and won’t accept gifts from you, but this status only lasts a day—so singles in Moonlight Peaks bounce back quickly.

Once you’re married, your spouse moves into your home but continues their daily routine, exploring town or heading to work as usual. They revert to having eight friendship hearts, plus two additional hearts to earn while married, bringing the total to 10. You can still take your spouse on dates to help earn those final hearts. While you can’t have kids in Moonlight Peaks, divorce is definitely on the table.

Divorce in Moonlight Peaks is surprisingly straightforward. A few days after your wedding, Llemi casually suggests the option of divorce, describing it as “a clean slate. No bonds, no vows, no lingering what-ifs. A love undone as if it had never been.”

Despite his concerns about breaking your partner’s heart, the game treats divorce as if it never happened. Your ex-spouse will return to being just a “friend” the next day, with only four hearts and no “hurt” label, completely ignoring the divorce in conversation. In fact, they might act like they’re ready to start dating you again.

Keep in mind that getting married initially locks all your other relationships at four friendship hearts. If you plan to marry again, you’ll need to put in the effort with gifts and dates to rebuild those hearts with your next potential spouse.
