Power Generation and Connection Guide for StarRupture

In StarRupture, mastering power generation and distribution is crucial for your success as a sci-fi factory builder. You’re responsible for supplying valuable resources to various companies, but without a dependable power source, harvesting is impossible. The game introduces a range of mechanics right from the start, making it easy to overlook some essential tips while you get acclimated. The power system may take a bit of practice, but with the right strategies, you’ll keep your machines operational without constant supervision.

To generate power, you’ll need to construct Solar Generators throughout your base. Each generator requires 40 basic building materials, and you can build as many as you need. Keep in mind that each Solar Panel has a limited power output, and more advanced machines will demand increasingly higher power levels. You can check the power details by interacting with a machine and accessing the information tab.

If you’re looking to conserve power or rearrange your setup, you can turn off any machine by interacting with it and toggling the power switch. This can help ease the load on your base’s power grid while you work on expanding your generator capacity.

To power devices like Ore Excavators or Smelters, connect them to your Solar Generators using platforms or rails. Both rails and floors can conduct electricity in StarRupture, eliminating the need for dedicated wiring. Your entire base operates on a shared power grid, so there’s no requirement to connect every machine directly to the solar panels. As long as a machine is linked to the grid, it will function as long as there’s sufficient total power available.

Electricity can travel as far as necessary, so you don’t need to stress about distant machines like Ore Excavators running out of energy. Just ensure there’s a rail connecting those machines to your main setup, and you’re all set.

However, powering items like Ore Excavators can be a bit tricky since they can’t have platforms attached directly. To get an Ore Excavator powered, connect it to a machine like a Smelter using a rail. As long as the Smelter is powered, the Ore Excavator will draw energy from it.

Ultimately, just ensure that your Solar Generators are linked to at least one platform connected to your machines. With everything else hooked up via a rail system—an essential aspect of StarRupture—power will flow throughout your entire factory layout.

If you prefer to keep your Solar Generators out of sight for a more organized machine layout, simply attach one platform to a solar panel and use the game’s extendable walkways to create a bridge to your devices.
