Repairing Items in Hytale: A Quick Guide

My tendency to charge headfirst into wolf packs and skeleton mobs in Hytale meant I had to pick up the art of repair pretty quickly. New weapons and armor can give me a false sense of security, and I’ve definitely hit that zero durability mark more times than I care to admit.

Luckily, fixing up broken tools and weapons is straightforward if you have the right materials on hand, though it took me a while to locate the hidden menu. If you’re looking for some tips and a checklist for repairing your worn-out gear, I’ve got you covered.

In Hytale, you can repair items by crafting a Repair Kit at a Tier 1 (or higher) Workbench. You’ll find it on the second tab in the upper left corner, which I initially mistook for a crafting icon for iron. Oops!

To use the Repair Kit, equip it to your hotbar and select the item you want to repair from the new window. I recommend using these kits sparingly since Hytale differs from other survival crafting games; you can’t just stroll up to a bench and fix your gear. The materials needed to craft these kits can add up quickly, so avoid repairing everything that’s still at 90% durability.

Here’s what you’ll need to craft a Repair Kit:

Linen scraps drop from various mobs throughout Zone 1. I gathered a good stash early on by taking down Skeleton Fighters, Goblin Scrappers, and different types of Trork. Skeletons can be found roaming the fields, goblins are lurking underground, and Trork hang out in their villages.

Iron ingots are a bit trickier to obtain, but you can refine them at the Tier 1 Furnace using iron ore and a decent supply of sticks to keep the fire going.

Light leather is another two-step ingredient. You can harvest light hide from rabbits, pigs, rats, and other small creatures. Once you have the hide, turn it into leather by building a Tier 1 Drying Rack and placing it there.
