Solving the Fireplace Puzzle in the Dining Room of 007 First Light

After navigating various routes and challenges in the early hours of 007 First Light, the fireplace puzzle that appears later in the Carpathian Hotel level can catch you off guard. Especially since it pops up during an intense chase scene, pausing to solve a symbol-based puzzle might not be top of mind.

Don’t let the numbers on the dial throw you off; this puzzle is more straightforward than it seems—the answer is right in front of you, and you won’t need to do any math. You might think you need to search the room for clues, especially since your mission objective says to “investigate the dining room.” In reality, all you need is that torn piece of paper you first interacted with.

Hint: Interact with the animal buttons on the fireplace and take note of how many you can press before it resets. Then, revisit the mechanical sketch.
