Tips for Defeating Beloth the Darksworn in Crimson Desert
Defeating Beloth in Crimson Desert is a challenging optional encounter. This boss is notably tougher than other Antumbra-aligned foes, boasting high durability and the ability to inflict continuous ice damage, along with the risk of freezing you periodically. Some of Beloth’s attacks can even take you out in one hit, regardless of your level.
The silver lining is that you can mitigate many of the more frustrating aspects of this battle, transforming it into a straightforward duel with this ancient icy ruler. Conquering Beloth rewards you with the complete Shadow Armor set, including his unique ice-breathing helmet, which is otherwise unobtainable. Here’s how to take down Beloth the Darksworn in Crimson Desert.
Before diving into the specifics of his attack patterns, here are some tips to make the fight significantly easier:
Make sure you have a solid stock of Abyss Artifacts focused on health and stamina, along with some Palmar Pills. You can find Refined Palmar Pills in chests when you collect the Frostcursed Armor, so keep an eye out for those.
Beloth has three particularly dangerous attacks, and here’s how to handle each one:
In his first attack, Beloth flashes red, conjures an ice spear in one hand, and alternates slams with it twice before leaping to create an ice spike AoE in front of him. The key here is to maintain your distance, dodge under or to the side when he jumps, and then strike back.
For his second attack, Beloth swings his spear twice, summons an ice spear, and then spins towards you before delivering a stab that can often one-shot you. The crucial move is to dodge through him as he spins; this usually misdirects his stab. I recommend dodging again afterward to ensure you avoid any follow-up hits before countering.
The third attack is less common but can be tricky. The screen darkens as Beloth summons an ice spear and crouches in preparation for a spin. He then disappears and drops down, creating an icy shockwave. It’s best to avoid trying to deal damage during this phase, as predicting where the ice spikes will land is quite difficult.
While there are other variations of his attacks, these three are the most frequent and dangerous. Beloth’s high health turns this fight into a war of attrition, requiring you to carefully dodge his attacks and strike when the opportunity arises. Incorporate some Level 3 Force Palm combos to build his stagger meter, and finish him off with a left and right mouse button combo (RB and RT on a controller) when he’s down.
The most impactful strategies for this fight include evading to prevent freezing, bringing enough ice resistance to counter the damage over time, and entering the arena from the west side to avoid attracting any ghosts. I managed to face Beloth without encountering any ghosts, and I didn’t light any of the lanterns in the Hoenmark Ruins either.
