Tips for Eliminating Bloom Biofilm in Subnautica 2

Removing Bloom Biofilm is just one of the many environmental challenges you’ll face in Subnautica 2. This stubborn, web-like organic substance loves to block doorways to various colony ruins, which can be frustrating when you’re eager to explore and loot everything inside.

During my adventures, I cleared the film from two ruins and discovered some awesome posters that I quickly scanned and added to my base, so be on the lookout for those gems.

To get rid of Bloom Biofilm, you’ll need the Sonic Resonator tool. Simply equip it and hold down the right mouse button (or RT on your controller) to charge up the blast. Once the meter on either side of the reticle is fully charged, release it while aiming at the obstruction.

This will obliterate the film, granting you access to whatever doorway was previously blocked—typically a colony ruin filled with cool gadgets and posters waiting to be scanned.

You can unlock the Sonic Resonator by scanning it at various locations on the map, and then you can craft it using:

Finding loose lead can be a bit tricky (more details on that in the guide), and you’ll need the Processor facility to create titanium ingots. You can find one of these in the Old Habitat colony ruin, located about 350 meters north of the Life Pod. On the other hand, crafting basic batteries and wiring kits is straightforward once you gather some silver.
