Tips for Expanding Your Inventory in Valheim
Whether you’re a seasoned Valheim player or just diving in for the first time, you might find yourself wondering, “Is there a way to expand my inventory?” Well, with the release of Valheim 1.0, the answer is a resounding yes!
Valheim’s inventory system is known for being quite limited, featuring only eight hotbar slots and 24 inventory slots. Since equipped armor occupies space, your inventory fills up quickly, making it challenging to carry all the loot and resources you gather. Thankfully, there’s a solution now.
Head over to Haldor, the NPC merchant located in the Black Forest. He offers two inventory upgrades for coins, each granting you an additional row in your inventory, allowing for a total of 16 extra slots.
Here’s what Haldor has for sale regarding inventory expansions:
If you’re new to Valheim, you might not have encountered Haldor yet, and he can be tricky to locate. He only appears in the Black Forest biome, and your best bet to find him is to explore the area.
To spot Haldor in the Black Forest, make sure you’re at least 1,500 meters away from the center of the map. You can use the console command “pos” to check your coordinates and distance from the center—check out resources on using Valheim console commands for more details.
Alternatively, you can input your Valheim world seed into a third-party tool like the Valheim World Generator, though it may not reliably pinpoint Haldor’s location until it’s updated for Valheim 1.0.
As you approach Haldor’s camp, a white bag icon will pop up on your minimap when you’re within a couple hundred meters.
To gather the coins needed for Haldor’s upgrades, look for them in chests, dungeons, or by defeating monsters like trolls and fulings. You can also sell items such as rubies, amber, and silver necklaces to Haldor for coins.
