Top Base Locations to Explore in Palworld 1.0

Between teaming up with friends and managing my own save file, I’ve dedicated a significant amount of time to scouting the best base locations in Palworld 1.0. I feel like a real estate agent for Pals now, and while I can’t charge for my services, I’ve put together a few listings for your base tours.

As I continue to explore the revamped Palpagos islands and the new World Tree map, expect to see updates and additions to this list in the near future. Feel free to share your own suggestions in the comments; I might check them out for future entries!

**Pros:** Several crude oil nodes, easy to defend during raids
**Cons:** No nearby ore
**Closest teleport:** Sunlit Isle

While it may not be the prime spot for ore or stone, the Sunlit Isle just east of Palworld’s starting area is fantastic for early-game crude oil farming, boasting six nodes scattered around. It’s also easy to defend, with the local pals being under level 10. I prefer building at the highest point on the island’s south side, but there’s a charming spot to the northeast with stone steps that works just as well. Even if you plan to farm ore elsewhere, this is a solid choice for a secondary base to ensure a steady crude oil supply.

**Pros:** Abundant nearby ore, easy to defend during raids, accessible early on
**Cons:** Tight squeeze for building
**Closest teleport:** Windswept Island Watchtower

This was my starting point with a trio of friends, and we thrived by harvesting the area’s densely packed ore nodes and lush forests. Many players have shared their builds here, so I can’t be the only one who considers it one of the best early-game base locations in Palworld. My only challenge was expanding the base as we grew. As the designated builder, I ended up tearing it down and rebuilding multiple times. You don’t have to go that far; I just tend to overdo it.

**Pros:** Easy to farm hardwood, nearby ore and sulfur
**Cons:** No natural raid protection, requires thoughtful defensive builds
**Closest teleport:** Investigator’s Fork

I usually set up a base near Palworld’s starting spawn and move on quickly. This time, I found a nice flat clearing just south of the Twilight Dunes, where I encountered Anubis. It had plenty of ore nodes and easy access to hardwood from the desert. Just be cautious when exploring the sandy biome; it can be quite challenging early on, but I found the occasional frustrating death from my own overconfidence to be worth it.

**Pros:** Location may not trigger raids (unconfirmed), safe during raids
**Cons:** No nearby resource spawns
**Closest teleport:** Icy Weasel Hill Watchtower

Being secluded on a towering ancient ruin makes resource farming here impossible, but who cares when you’re practically untouchable? This spot has been recommended countless times as one of the safest locations from Palworld’s raids, and after trying it myself, I understand why. I only triggered a raid once when I first started building, likely due to poor Palbox placement. Once I moved the structure to the center, I never faced another raid here. Even if you do get raided, no one is getting to you up here.

**Pros:** Hard to raid cliffside, situated between biomes for several mid-game pals
**Cons:** Short commute for ore, tight fit building around ruins
**Closest teleport:** Sealed Realm of the Swift

This location was a spontaneous choice I made with friends after a particularly rough raid. Their world settings were slightly tougher than the default Palworld configuration, but it’s a spot I would have considered for my own single-player run. While it’s not the easiest for resource farming, we were just looking for something defensible, and raids here often spawned near a neighboring enemy camp, which frequently got stuck on our house. We settled on the cliff edge with some ruins, but there’s another ledge to the northwest with more open land.

**Pros:** A crude oil node surrounded by quartz, ore, coal, and stone
**Cons:** Exposed to raids, hard to defend if unprepared
**Closest teleport:** Thawtide Cape

This little corner of Palpagos’ snowiest island is shielded from the cold and rich in ore, quartz, coal, and even a bit of crude oil. Building at the very eastern edge can be tricky due to the incline, so I recommend settling closer to the mountain on the largest flat area. It’s wise to build out from the highest point and fortify your defenses quickly. Out of all my bases, this one seemed to attract the most raids, making it an easy target if left unprotected.
