Top Calorie-Rich Foods to Fuel Your Early Game in StarRupture
Even with a solid factory-building tutorial, StarRupture surprisingly leaves you in the dark about its survival mechanics, like managing hunger and hydration. You’re marooned on an alien planet, surrounded by bizarre, unappetizing plants that you definitely shouldn’t eat without some serious investigation. But when hunger strikes, you’ll have to find a way to gather food.
In StarRupture, you satisfy your hunger by accumulating calories, which means eating food. Each food item provides different calorie counts, and some may even come with Toxicity. Here’s what you need to know to keep your hunger at bay.
The easiest way to score food and calories early in the game is by harvesting and munching on Polifruit, an orange shrub that grows in abundance on grassy plains, especially around the pond near your starting lander, where it respawns regularly. So, yes, it’s the classic survival game routine of foraging for berries in the early hours.
Once you’ve collected a good stash of Polifruit, head to your inventory, right-click on the item, and select ‘use’ to eat it, which will net you 11 calories.
I suggest researching these food recipes at the Recipe Station as soon as possible:
The Calorie Fluid recipe requires Polifruit and 20 Star Tears, healing you for 30 HP and providing 20 calories. You can find Star Tears in rocky areas, particularly in the hills to the east and west of your starting point.
Calorie Gel needs Polifruit and 25 Grubblers, filling you up with a satisfying 65 calories—almost like a bag of chips! As the name implies, Grubblers are grubs located on the gold trees directly east of the lander, near the map beacon that marks the edge of the more ‘autumnal’ biome.
