Unlocking Lucifer Rotsac in Subnautica 2: A Guide
Lucifer Rotsac is a crucial plant in Subnautica 2, primarily used for crafting rubber. This is essential for your survival on a treacherous alien ocean world, where creating sealed environments is key to avoiding drowning. However, locating it might not be immediately clear.
Fortunately, gathering Lucifer Rotsac is straightforward, so you won’t have to make endless trips back and forth, unlike with silver, which can be a significant challenge during your early hours underwater.
You can find Lucifer Rotsac as glowing orange orbs nestled within green coral plants called Cradle Shootroots. The prime spot to collect them is just 80 meters southwest of the Lifepod, around a rocky archway. In this area, I’ve discovered about 16 Lucifer Rotsacs, and they respawn periodically, making it a reliable source.
As you explore deeper into the ocean, you’ll notice that Lucifer Rotsac is relatively common, often found against rock formations and inside caves.
To collect Lucifer Rotsac, you can pick it up by hand. However, you’ll need to use your Survival Multitool to cut the Cradle Shootroots, which also provide fibrous pulp early on. This pulp is useful for crafting basic oily salads and fiber, another ingredient for Basic Fins.
You can convert two Lucifer Rotsacs into rubber at any fabricator, including the one in your Lifepod. Rubber is necessary for creating several early-game items, such as Air Bladders and a Standard Air Tank.
