Unlocking Nebora’s Help: Removing Your Collar in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Nebora is one of the first NPCs you’ll encounter in Fort Joy in Divinity: Original Sin 2. As a Blacksmith, she hints that she can help you remove your Source Collar, but her willingness to do so is questionable. While getting her assistance isn’t overly complicated, it does require some effort, as only The One is deemed worthy of freedom from their collar—whatever that means. Here’s how to convince Nebora to help you and the steps to finally get rid of your collar.

To have Nebora remove your Source Collar in Fort Joy, you must successfully complete the Fort Joy Arena and emerge as the victor. Here’s what you need to do:

Winning in the Arena can be quite challenging, so aim to be at least level 3, though levels 4 or 5 are preferable. Make sure to save your game before entering, as failing will prevent you from trying again.

It’s also important to note that once your Collar is removed, all Magisters will turn hostile towards you. If you surrender, you’ll end up in Fort Joy jail and need to escape, or combat will ensue if you choose to fight. Therefore, it’s wise to have a clear plan for exiting Fort Joy, making the removal of your Collar the last step before you leave the fortress.

Remember, Nebora isn’t the only option for removing Source Collars; she’s just the earliest one you’ll encounter. The NPC Leya at the Sanctuary of Amadia, located outside of Fort Joy, can also remove them. Additionally, all Collars will be automatically taken off your party during the finale of Act 1 if you haven’t used either of these methods.
