When will GTA 6 be available on PC?
The anticipation for GTA 6 on PC has been building for years, yet we’re still left in the dark about its launch date. Based on past trends, it’s likely we won’t see a PC version until about a year after it hits consoles, and Rockstar probably won’t even hint at a PC release until next year. How far down the rabbit hole can we go to figure this out? At least far enough to get ambushed by some wild animals, I suppose.
My best guess is that the PC release for GTA 6 won’t happen before November 2027. This estimate is grounded in Rockstar’s history with PC ports, as they haven’t even provided a rough timeline for when we might expect it.
For their last three major titles, the gap between console and PC releases has varied significantly—from 7 months for GTA 4 to 19 months for GTA 5. Originally, the plan for GTA 5 was about a 14-month wait, but we all know how that turned out.
To add to the frustration, Rockstar has a pattern of keeping PC players waiting. They confirmed the PC version of GTA 4 in the summer of 2008, months after the console launch. The same happened with GTA 5, which debuted on consoles in September 2013, had its PC release announced in summer 2014, and then faced multiple delays into 2015—launching on two console generations before finally arriving on PC. With RDR2, they waited a full year post-console launch to confirm what everyone already suspected, giving us just a month’s notice.
So, it’s safe to say that GTA 6 likely won’t be available on PC until late 2027, and we might not even get a release date until sometime next year.

Take-Two’s CEO has been sending some mixed messages to the PC gaming community over the past year. In November 2025, he mentioned that the gaming industry is “moving towards PC and business is moving towards open rather than closed.”
Then, in February 2026, he noted that “PC has become a much more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue.” This sounded promising.
However, in May 2026, he stated that “Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core,” referring to console players as the “core consumer.” He also estimated that PC could make up 45-50% of sales on a “major launch” for Take-Two. So, it’s clear that any claim suggesting PC isn’t the primary audience for GTA 6 is simply not true.
So why does Rockstar keep delaying PC launches? As our own Ted Litchfield pointed out two years ago, there’s really only one reason for Rockstar to hold off on releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 for PC: they believe that we’ll buy it twice. It’s a sentiment that many of us can instinctively understand.
