Ongoing Xbox Series Console Issues Prevent Some Players from Accessing Xbox 360 Games Two Months After Promised Fix

Nearly two months ago, we highlighted a problem that many Xbox Series owners were experiencing on social media, which was preventing them from playing Xbox 360 backward-compatible titles on their consoles. Shortly after, Xbox announced that the issue had been resolved. However, as time has passed, users are expressing frustration that the problem persists, and they feel their concerns are being overlooked.

The core issue, as previously mentioned, involves players encountering an error message stating, “Can’t connect to Xbox Live. Select Test Connection to troubleshoot your connection” when attempting to launch certain Xbox 360 games, making them unplayable. Users have confirmed that their internet connections are functioning properly and that they can still access other online games. Yet, the error messages continue to plague them, restricting access to significant portions of their game libraries.

At the end of April, Jason Ronald, head of next-gen at Xbox, took to Twitter/X to announce that the problem should be resolved. Initially, many players who had reported issues celebrated as their games became playable again, seemingly putting the matter to rest. However, in the weeks and months that followed, several players returned to voice that they were still encountering the same or similar errors. It remains unclear what distinguishes those who have seen their issues resolved from those still facing them:

@jronald I’m still having the issue. It’s stuck on “Getting your Xbox 360 info”

Still not working. Please fix. I messaged support 3 months ago and no fix has been implemented.

Several users have reported reaching out to Xbox customer support regarding this issue, only to be informed that it is known but that there is no timeline or assurance for a fix. For some, this problem has persisted since late last year, leaving them unable to access games they have purchased and own for months, with no clear resolution in sight.
