onethreefive gaming Takes Over DACH League of Legends ERL from Riot
Riot Games has tapped Berlin-based onethreefive gaming GmbH to manage the League of Legends European Regional League for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during the 2026 and 2027 seasons. This move hands control of one of Europe’s most established League of Legends ecosystems to the newly formed company.
Onethreefive gaming will oversee the Techniker Prime League, along with its associated competitive tiers and league structures. The league currently boasts over 10,000 active players and has seen a remarkable increase of more than 200% in average hours watched per match compared to 2025, thanks to onethreefive gaming’s leadership.
This appointment comes after a tumultuous transition for the DACH League of Legends scene. Riot had previously renewed the Prime League operator license for the 2025–2027 period with Freaks 4U Gaming, but the Berlin-based esports agency filed for insolvency in November 2025. Despite this, the Prime League continued through the end of the 2025 Fall Split in December. The announcement does not clarify who managed the league during this interim or when the license officially shifted from Freaks 4U Gaming to onethreefive gaming. Public records indicate that onethreefive gaming GmbH was registered in February 2026, suggesting that this announcement formalizes the league’s operating structure for 2026–2027 rather than detailing an immediate transition post-insolvency.
While the announcement does not cite Freaks 4U’s insolvency as the reason for the change, the timing is crucial for teams, sponsors, and media partners who depend on stability in regional esports leagues.
Continuity seems to be a key focus. Public company information lists Michael Haenisch as managing director of onethreefive gaming, with Matthias Remmert as an authorized representative. Both are well-known figures in the German esports production scene. Haenisch co-founded Freaks 4U Gaming in 2011 alongside Remmert, who is also recognized in the community as “Knochen.”
For Riot, this appointment is a strategic move to stabilize a vital ERL market while maintaining ties to the individuals and production expertise that helped shape the Prime League. Onethreefive gaming faces the challenge of managing a well-established product with a loyal player base, sponsor relationships, and community expectations, all while demonstrating that a new corporate structure can foster both stability and growth.
The announcement outlines the next phase of the Techniker Prime League, focusing on three strategic pillars: enhanced collaboration with teams and organizations, increased live experiences, and a broader entertainment offering around the competition. Onethreefive gaming aims to fortify the league’s competitive and organizational foundation while engaging more closely with participating teams and organizations.
A significant aspect of this plan is XPERION Berlin. Through a partnership with MediaMarktSaturn, this venue is set to become the league’s first permanent physical home outside of seasonal finals. Selected match days and special formats will be hosted on-site, creating fresh opportunities for fan engagement, partner activations, and community programming led by teams.
This physical venue strategy could prove commercially beneficial. Regional esports leagues have often struggled to convert regular-season competition into consistent sponsorship opportunities beyond broadcast placements and finals. A permanent hub provides the Prime League with more options, including live match days, creator integrations, B2B events, community gatherings, partner showcases, and ongoing content formats throughout the season.
The league is also leaning into creator and content-driven growth. The announcement credits part of the Prime League’s recent audience surge to co-streams from popular creators and personalities, such as HandOfBlood and Tolkin. Onethreefive gaming plans to introduce new talent, rotating guests, and additional editorial and entertainment content surrounding the league.
As the Prime League enters this new licensing period, it boasts a partner roster that includes Techniker Krankenkasse as the title and health partner, along with Nongshim, MediaMarktSaturn with XPERION, KitKat, and DKB.
Matthias Remmert, CPO of onethreefive gaming GmbH and founder of heartbase group, emphasized the need for the league’s next phase to balance professionalism with accessibility. “The Techniker Prime League has tremendous potential,” Remmert stated. “Our goal is to unlock that potential together with the community, the teams, and our partners, and to build a league that not only feels professional but also approachable, authentic, and alive.” He added, “If we can make people feel like they are not just watching the league, but actually part of it, then we’ve succeeded.”
